James Mains is an Attorney with The Valley Law Group, where he focuses his practice exclusively on family law. He represents clients in a broad range of matters, including divorce, legal decision-making and parenting time (child custody), child support, paternity, domestic violence, modifications, enforcement actions, and adoption. James is committed to guiding individuals and families through difficult legal challenges with compassion, professionalism, and practical advocacy.
Originally from Sacramento, California, James moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 2008, where he graduated from Trinity High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Kentucky before attending the University of Louisville, where he graduated in 2020 with both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Urban Planning.
Prior to joining Valley Law Group, James practiced family law in Kentucky, representing clients in a wide variety of domestic relations matters. He also served as a Guardian ad Litem in Jefferson County, advocating for the best interests of children in family court proceedings. These experiences provided him with a strong foundation in handling complex, high-conflict family law cases and continue to inform his client-centered approach to representation.
Now based in Phoenix, James is proud to serve clients throughout Arizona’s Valley.
